National Park Authority Chair embraces new role
Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority Chair, Cllr Paul Harries, has been elected to lead the UK National Parks Chairs’ Forum for 2022
The national Forum brings together the Chairs of the 15 National Park Authorities in Wales, Scotland and England. Over the next year, the Forum will oversee work in relation to Climate Change, funding and ensuring that people from all backgrounds can access and enjoy National Parks.
Cllr Harries said: “I’m very pleased to be the first Chair from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority to take on this role, especially at such a pivotal moment in our fight against the climate emergency.
“Over coming months, the Forum will be looking to build on work undertaken during COP26 to establish a partnership of designated landscapes from across the world to see how they these special environments can contribute towards solutions.”
Cllr Harries has been Chair of the Pembrokeshire Coast NPA since 2019 and is currently the Chair of National Parks Wales. He is also the County Councillor for Newport and in September he completed the gruelling 186-mile Pembrokeshire Coast Path Challenge.
